Ear Surgery in Miami is a surgical procedure that alters the shape of a client’s ears. It has no audio benefit, it doesn’t alter the hearing at all, but it does offer cosmetic benefits for those that are self-conscious about the current appearance or people who have undergone serious accidents or damages to their ears. Typically one of two things is done during an otoplasty, either the position of the ears are changing or the size is changing. Our board certified surgeons are able to set prominent ears back, closer to the head rather than out to the sides, this keeps the ears size, but minimizes their visibility. We are also able to reduce the size of the ears themselves by removing excess skin and reform the ear to a shape our clients can be proud of.
- Abnormally Large Ears
- Ears without Outer Cartridge
- Abnormally Small Ears
- Stretched, Torn, or Damaged Earlobes
- Abnormally Shaped Ears
Otoplasties are generally two to three hour procedures. The procedure begins with a small incision made behind the ear. The cartridge is then reformed and repositioned to create the desired appearance. In some cases excess tissue and skin are removed, but cartridge is always left in place, being bent to give an appearance of a smaller or larger ear. Sutures are used to help the ear maintain its shape while healing. Recovering from an otoplasty is relatively easy compared to some other cosmetic procedures. Most patients will feel natural with a few hours, and soreness will last no longer than a few weeks.
