Guidelines for injecting Semaglutide

  1. Gather your supplies: You’ll need the Semaglutide or Tirsepatide vial medication (in the appropriate form), an alcohol swab, and a sharps container for disposing of used needles and pens/syringes.
  2. Wash your hands: Always start by washing your hands thoroughly with soap and water to ensure cleanliness.
  3. Prepare the injection site: Common injection sites for semaglutide or Tirsepatide are the abdomen (around the belly button), thigh or back of the arm and always rotate your sites. Clean the injection site with an alcohol swab and allow it to dry.
  4. Prepare syringe: Clean vial with alcohol and draw medication using insulin syringes provided to draw the dosage for the week.
  5. Remove air bubbles: Hold the syringe with the needle pointing up and tap it gently to move any air bubbles to the top. Push the plunger or expel any air until a small drop of medication appears at the tip of the needle.
  6. Inject the medication: Pinch the skin at the cleaned injection site and insert the needle at a 90-degree angle or as instructed by your healthcare provider. Push the plunger or button to inject the medication slowly and steadily.
  7. Hold the needle in for a few seconds: After injecting the medication, hold the needle in for a few seconds to ensure all the medication is delivered.
  8. Remove the needle: Carefully remove the needle from your skin and dispose of it in a sharps container.
  9. Apply gentle pressure: You can apply a clean cotton ball or tissue to the injection site if there’s any bleeding. Do not rub the area.
  10. Dispose of materials: Safely dispose of the used needle in your sharps container.
  11. Record your injection: Keep a record of the date, time, and location of the injection for your medical records.
