Vaginal Rejuvenation Procedures
"Vaginal rejuvenation" is an umbrella term encompassing several distinct procedures. Understanding which category you fall into is the first step of your consultation.
Vaginoplasty & Perineoplasty
Vaginoplasty surgically tightens the vaginal canal. Perineoplasty rebuilds the perineum (the tissue between the vaginal opening and the anus) which is often thinned or torn during childbirth. These procedures restore internal tone, reduce feelings of slackness, and improve overall structural support.
Labiaplasty
Labiaplasty reduces elongated labia minora. It is frequently combined with clitoral hood reduction to trim redundant tissue. These procedures address physical discomfort, such as twisting or chafing in clothing during exercise, as well as cosmetic self-consciousness.
Energy-Based Tightening
Non-surgical treatments use radiofrequency or fractional laser energy to gently heat the vaginal wall and stimulate collagen production. These are best suited for women experiencing mild laxity or dryness, but they cannot surgically repair stretched or torn post-childbirth anatomy.
Note: This page covers cosmetic vaginal rejuvenation and tightening after childbirth or aging. We do not perform gender-affirming vaginoplasty.
How Childbirth Alters the Pelvic Floor
The pelvic floor is a hammock of muscle and connective tissue supporting the bladder, uterus, and rectum. Vaginal delivery stretches these structures significantly, leading to distinct physiological changes.
- Canal Stretching: Tissue that accommodates a baby's head rebounds substantially, but often not completely, leaving a wider canal with reduced resting tone.
- Perineal Thinning: The structural anchor between the vaginal opening and the anus is frequently injured during delivery. Once it loses bulk, support weakens.
- Labial Elongation: Hormonal changes and mechanical stretching can permanently lengthen the labia minora, leading to discomfort and chafing.
It is important to know that kegel exercises can strengthen muscles, but they cannot restore torn connective tissue or shorten elongated labia. Those are structural problems that require a surgical solution.
Vaginoplasty vs. Labiaplasty
While often performed together, these two procedures address very different concerns.
Vaginoplasty (Internal Repair)
Vaginoplasty focuses on the posterior wall of the vaginal canal. The stretched tissue is carefully folded and sutured to narrow the canal, and the perineal body is rebuilt to restore its anchoring support. Dr. De Jesus focuses on calibrated tightening—restoring comfortable function while strictly avoiding over-tightening, which can cause pain.
Labiaplasty (External Reshaping)
Labiaplasty reduces the labia minora using one of two precise techniques: the Trim Technique (excising the elongated edge directly) or the Wedge Technique (removing a central V-shaped segment to preserve the natural, textured border). Your surgeon will recommend the best approach based on your tissue quality.

Safety Standards & Eligibility
This surgery involves some of the most delicate anatomy in the body. That proximity is why our safety standards are extremely rigorous.
- Preventing Over-Tightening: Dr. De Jesus calibrates the tightening to your specific anatomy to ensure comfortable function. Over-tightening can cause pain with intercourse, and avoiding this is our primary concern.
- Accredited Facility: Surgery takes place in a Joint Commission Accredited operating suite with licensed anesthesia providers.
- Proper Healing Management: Vaginal mucosa heals differently than normal skin. We provide a highly specific aftercare regimen to protect the tissues and prevent infection.
Are you a good candidate?
Ideal candidates have completed their childbearing, as future pregnancies will re-stretch the repaired tissue. You should be at least six months postpartum and fully finished with breastfeeding to allow your tissues to stabilize.
The Six-Week Recovery Rule
Recovery from vaginoplasty is governed by one unbreakable rule: no intercourse, tampons, or submerging in water for six to eight weeks. The surgical repair needs this time to gain full structural strength.
Days 1–3: Rest and Healing
You will experience soreness, similar to a deep bruise, managed with prescribed medication. You will take short, slow walks to protect circulation and wear loose, comfortable clothing. Hygiene requires gentle rinsing.
Weeks 2–3: Back to Desk Work
Most patients comfortably return to desk jobs within two weeks. (Labiaplasty-only patients typically return in under one week). Swelling will fluctuate, and internal dissolvable sutures may create normal, mild tugging sensations.
Weeks 4–6: Activity Returns
Light exercise is typically cleared around week four. By week six to eight, Dr. De Jesus will perform an examination to clear you for intercourse and normal activities.
Months 3–6: Final Comfort
Swelling resolves entirely, sensation normalizes, and all internal sutures have absorbed. The restored tone and comfort become your permanent, new baseline.
What Our Patients Say
Published with permission and fully anonymized. Privacy is the norm for this procedure, and we honor it in our reviews as in everything else.
"Three vaginal deliveries, and I spent eight years not saying the words out loud to anyone. I booked the consultation specifically because the surgeon was a woman. Vaginoplasty with the perineal repair, and at six months the difference is everything I hoped for. The privacy was total from the first email."
M. G. Vaginoplasty + Perineoplasty
"My issue was spin class. Elongated labia that twisted and chafed through every session. The wedge technique preserved the natural edge perfectly, which I asked about specifically, and I was back on the bike at six weeks with zero problem."
K. S. Wedge Labiaplasty
"I traveled to Miami specifically because nobody in my city knows me. Virtual consult, written quote by email, and a quick four-day trip. Dr. De Jesus told me exactly what to expect for recovery, and that preparation is why I never once felt blindsided."

Vaginoplasty & Labiaplasty FAQ
How much does vaginoplasty cost in Miami?
At Spectrum Aesthetics, vaginoplasty pricing starts at $5,999 as an all-inclusive package with perineoplasty included. This covers the board-certified surgeon's fee, anesthesia, the accredited facility fee, dissolvable-suture technique, and all routine follow-up visits. Adding labiaplasty or combining with a tummy tuck will adjust the quote.
What is the difference between vaginoplasty and labiaplasty?
Vaginoplasty tightens the inside: it repairs the vaginal canal and the perineal support beneath the opening. Labiaplasty reshapes the outside: it reduces elongated labia minora that twist, chafe, or cause self-consciousness. They solve different problems and are frequently performed together.
Will sex feel different after vaginoplasty?
Most patients and their partners report improved sensation and satisfaction from restored tone and friction. The surgery corrects the physical anatomy, and experience generally follows. We prioritize careful calibration to ensure comfortable, functional tightness and avoid painful over-tightening.
Is laser vaginal tightening an alternative to surgery?
Only for very mild laxity or dryness. Laser and radiofrequency treatments stimulate collagen but cannot remove excess stretched tissue or rebuild a torn perineum. If your concern is structural looseness after childbirth, surgery is the appropriate medical solution.
When can I have sex after vaginal rejuvenation surgery?
Six to eight weeks. The surgical repair needs that time to gain strength, and resuming earlier risks reopening the healing tissue. Tampons, baths, and swimming must also wait for this medical clearance.
Can I have more children after a vaginoplasty?
A future pregnancy is medically safe, but a vaginal delivery will re-stretch the corrected canal and rebuilt perineum, largely undoing the aesthetic and functional results of the surgery. We recommend waiting until your family is complete.
Does insurance cover vaginoplasty or labiaplasty?
Almost never. Cosmetic vaginal procedures are classified as elective. If you suffer from genuine pelvic organ prolapse or urinary leakage, those are urogynecologic issues, and we will properly refer you to a specialist.
Will labiaplasty affect sensitivity?
This is technique-dependent. The "Trim" technique removes the labial edge and can slightly diminish sensation. The "Wedge" technique preserves the natural border and its sensation while shortening the overall length. We generally prefer the wedge technique for patients with good tissue quality.
Is vaginal rejuvenation safe?
In experienced, board-certified hands, yes. The primary risks—such as over-tightening or delayed mucosal healing—are mitigated by precise surgical planning and strict aftercare protocols. All procedures take place in our Joint Commission Accredited surgical suite.
Everything about this feels private. How do you handle that?
Confidentially, structurally, and respectfully. Consultations are scheduled discreetly, and reviews are published only with permission and heavily anonymized. Meeting with Dr. De Jesus, a female surgeon, provides an immediate sense of comfort. There is no judgment in our consultation room.
